Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Different IPs making same serious but unsubstantiated accusation. Nick Levine (talk) 12:35, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:12, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Since this is happening now (Current event), new editors are adding unsourced and false information Spworld2 (talk) 12:49, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:13, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Hamtechperson 13:10, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:13, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Repeated proxy evasion on very disparate IPs over the past couple of weeks. CMD (talk) 15:02, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:28, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Consider the edit warring noticeboard – This is a case of possible edit-warring by one or two users. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 15:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Considering a checkuser just confirmed repeated sockpuppetry, I would protect the page regardless. Jdcomix (talk) 16:16, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 17:16, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs have been pretty giddy and persistent ever since Trumps no pronouns comment. CRBoyer 16:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 17:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations – SPA may be editing in good faith, but is persistent in adding a level of detail and slant that I think is in violation of BLP policies. They have around 40 edits (all to this article) so ECP would be called for. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 16:51, 1 August 2024 (UTC). Russ Woodroofe (talk) 16:51, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:13, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent BLP violations due to the current discourse around the article's subject. Mellamelina (talk) 16:56, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 17:14, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Informal informational page, not a talk space. Has already been used at least once as a talk space (by an IP editor), and anyway any modifications to the page should be restricted to editors with at least some experience. Requesting permanent extended-confirmed. ―Mandruss  17:10, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: An IP user has recently been vandalizing this page and I am requesting this page to be protected.HJHooker00 (talk) 17:23, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Father of Kamala Harris. Lots of attention on him in the past week, including a lot of problematic racial claims/questions. Several edits lately changing race/religion claims inappropriately, etc. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 17:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – And also possibly sockpuppetry. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 17:26, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Highly abusive admin reverting content and adding back false information and mass protecting articles on municipalities in Cebu that they dont know anything about (Hiligaynon and Tagalog are NOT spoken in Cebu Province or any of its cities)

    Requesting unprotection 220.121.86.7 (talk) 10:35, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Another proxy evading numerous blocks. -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 11:05, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
N.B. This is the same person who has been thrashing the admin boards for the last couple of days. -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 12:40, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not unprotected – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. ~Anachronist (talk) 11:59, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

In "Early life and education", the article says "In 2003 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi". The source for that paragraph as archived (https://archive.ph/ek0sE) states that she "dropped out for good in 2001".

I suggest changing "In 2003 she enrolled..." to something like "She enrolled at the University of Mississippi, studying journalism and political science and writing for The Daily Mississippian, but left the school in 2001." Or of course, add a source for her enrolling in 2003. Elizabeth Internet (talk) 06:56, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add "George and Junior" in the the programming section of Tom and Jerry, where it says, "including other MGM Cartoons such as Droopy, Barney Bear, and Screwball Squirrel". Mgmcartoonguy (talk) 04:34, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are two protection lock templates at the top of the page:

    {{pp-vandalism|small=yes}} {{pp|small=yes}}

Please remove one of them. Thanks. 88.97.195.160 (talk) 15:08, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
